JQT Vancouver

Carmel Tanaka is the Founder and Executive Director of JQT Vancouver.

Pronounced “J-cutie”, JQT Vancouver is a Jewish Queer and Trans arts, cultural and educational non-profit dedicated to ‘queering’ Jewish space and ‘Jewifying’ queer space in Vancouver, BC on the traditional and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples.

Carmel is also the Project Coordinator of the BC Jewish Queer & Trans Oral History Project, the first project of its kind in the province.
